Ten Things

. Friday 24 November 2017 .
It's been a hell of a week. One of the hardest days of my life yet. I'm wishing people were more mindful and compassionate, and I want to be too. The people in my life are amazing and I'm so excited to be sharing that with you more. This ten things roundup is weird because I currently feel like I have no words for this week, yet have so much to say at the same time.

Also in the spirit of Thanksgiving - a problematic holiday, I know - but nonetheless I'd like to take a moment to be thankful for so many good things this year like my family, new city and job, friends, good food, trains, flowers, and my cat.
Roughest edition yet, but things need to be said.

1. Life is tough and unfair and confusing and sometimes there is no answer. There are no words. There is no comfort. There is only love. My friend's baby passed away unexpectedly last weekend and to be honest with you, I'm still reeling from shock. His funeral was one of the toughest days of my life and I am so so heartbroken over it.

2. I was so triggered earlier this week and wished that sometimes people were more compassionate and cared more. I don't want to get into it because every time I think about it I just get so upset, but I will say that we all should be more mindful of our actions and words sometimes. This applies to me too, of course. If we're in the position to be more empathetic and be able to help, I hope we choose to do so. At the end of the day we are all just humans with our own struggles and shit to get through, and if we were all just a bit kinder and more mindful of what each other might be going through, of what we can do to help and support, then I think we'd all be better off for it.

3. Summer is coming and I am dreading it. I will *never be a summer girl, no matter how hard I try. Ironic for someone from Manila and who adores LA, I know. *never say never

4. My friends are the absolute best. Our Twitter group chat is so great because we are literally the oddest group of people who on paper have nothing in common except for our love of a beautiful city, but somehow we just work. They've been there for me all these years, and sometimes I look at them and wonder how could they love me this much. Coming home to Hamilton is always great because I get lots of cuddles and laughs and food, and checking our group chat daily is always so delightful because of the broad range of topics that's talked about.

5. On that note, don't mess with my friends. Because we will talk about it. We will go public. And damn straight will our voices be heard.

6. I feel like this is turning into such a rant and me whining despite the misleading, cheery peony image. So let's change the subject. How pretty are these peonies? I currently have about a dozen of it on my bedside table and I really just wanna get some more before this short but sweet season ends.

7. This blog is currently going through some big changes. I know I've been saying this for ages, but finally have clarity on what I want it to be after overthinking/being undecided for a very long time. I started blogging when I was 13, long before people knew what blogs were, long before it was a marketing tool, long before the free product and the invites to glamorous events. I was around when Bryanboy was a small blogger from the Philippines who would publish his number online and ask people to be friends. I've moved around usernames and platforms and all that. But I keep going back to being that 13 year old who found a space of her own on the internet, who found her voice and wrote and poured her heart out on her little blog. That's who I'll always be and I've decided it was time for this blog to be a reflection of the journey again. I've been lucky enough to only work with brands that I genuinely love, and there will be more of that here, along with some more personal diary-esque entries, more things I love. In fact, I want it to be filled with everything I love. But the most exciting part for me is the 'People' section. It's not an original thought for blogs to do interviews, but when I was looking at my Facebook friend list the other day, I was struck by how interesting my friends are and the stuff they are doing. There's an orphan from doesn't know his real birthday who have grown up to be such a fine young man. There's the childhood friend who came from a long line of actors, who I watched go up the stage last year at Cannes when her mum won best actress. There's the cool dude from my Uni days who co-wrote and co-produced Justin Bieber's song. There's a young mum with two sets of twins. And then there's my heroes too. I recently got the email of my dreams from an American TV personality and some stuff I might be doing for her website. There's my fave bloggers on Instagram who is generously sharing her time with me. The world is filled with people and stories and I need to hear and learn as much as I could.

8. I need new photos of myself. I'm actually not photogenic and more often than not dislike photos of me that's not a selfie (lol #millenials), but I would like some new imagery to go with my new look. And maybe a new look too.

9. Wrote a new bio and some other things. Links need updating and the page needs to look prettier but if you wanted to have a nosy, here it is.

10. All we have is now. Right now. Right here. This is it, friends. This is all that's promised. And I, for one, am going to start living it now.
